An un-related or “unconnected” corporation is commonly used when talking about corporate investment strategies, where as the dividends received on the shares of corporations that the recipient corporation owns as an investment.
An un-related company:
- Does not owns the corporation receiving the dividend
- Is not owned by the corporation receiving the dividend
- Does not have the same owner as the corporation receiving the dividend
In the most basic of terms, provided there is no real connection to the company either via an individual or the company itself, it is safe to assume that is an un-related company.
